What is a keyboard?

A keyboard is used to type letters, numbers, and symbols into a computer.

Shift Key Practice

The Shift key is used to make capital letters.

Try this: Hold Shift and type your name with a capital letter.

Example: Sam

Enter Key Practice

The Enter key moves your cursor to a new line.

Example:

My name is Sam.
I like computers.
I am learning to type.

Try this: Type a sentence, press Enter, then type another sentence on a new line.

Sentence Practice

Now try typing full sentences. Use capital letters, spaces, and punctuation.

Hi! My name is Alex.
I am learning to type on a computer.
Do you want to learn too?

Try this: Type the sentences above exactly. Make sure you use:

  • Capital letters
  • Full stops (.)
  • Exclamation marks (!)
  • Question marks (?)
